My Bloody Valentine (Review)

Photobucket
I have not watched the original, so I can only tell my thoughts based on this one. I have heard about My Bloody Valentine for along time, so when I seen the teaser poster for this one I started reading up on the 1981 movie. Reading about that one and seeing a trailer to this one made me think that My Bloody Valentine 2009 was going to be good.
The first ten minutes had me. I always like it when a movie has a very high body count right off the bat, and this movie has that for sure. The body count is pretty high in this, with about fifty over all kill, with about half on screen and half off screen. I like it alot more when we get alot of on screen kills, and this movie did not let me down.
The story was good, and I liked the back story alot. I can't really say anything bad about the story at all, except that its jumps time alot. Not like Pulp Fiction jumps time, but in the way that it jumps so many years does some stuff then jumps more years. If they make a part two I hope they don't jump as many times.
The acting ain't that bad either, and I really liked the way the manic miner played out on screen. Betsy Rue was pretty damn brave, the whole time she was in this movie she was naked, and for you horn dogs out there thats all the nudity you get in this one. I have not seen Jensen Ackles in anything before, but I liked what he did in this.
Over all My Bloody Valentine is a very enjoyable movie, and not watching it in 3D did not hurt it any. We get some very nice kills, with a high body count. Good story, and not to bad of acting. Horror fans should buy it, everyone else rent it. I give My Bloody Valentine a 7 out of 10.

  1. I agree on your opinion of this flick. Other than the fact that I was EXTREMELY disappointed by not getting to watch it in 3D, I thoroughly enjoyed this version. My fave part was when that chick got decapitated w/a shovel ;)
